Focal Scleral Nodule
For the last 10 years I’ve been keeping records of patients with an unusual, white-yellow lesion that is usually 1 disc diameter in size, 1 disc diameter from the optic nerve. This was previously called “solitary idiopathic choroiditis” or “unifocal helioid choroiditis”, but enhanced-depth and swept-source OCT now suggests that these lesions are in fact located in the sclera, not choroid. Hence the new name “Focal Scleral Nodule”.
